Speak little; protect your own peace. Swami Muktananda
Speak little; protect your own peace.
Swami Muktananda

One of the reasons that a calm, tranquil mind is so important is because a tranquil mind leads to peaceful, well-thought-out words. Your words will indicate your mental state. When your mind is agitated, stressed, or angry, your words will give evidence of that fact.

If your mind is filled with angry thoughts, your words will have an angry tone and will be words of anger or resentment. If your mind is focused on peaceful, loving thoughts, then your words will be more peaceful and loving. Everything you say originates with the thoughts you think, and sooner or later, those thoughts will produce corresponding words.

Our words are much more powerful than we have been taught. In fact, most people have never even considered that their words may contain energy or have an effect on their lives. But words, just like our thoughts, contain energy. We can use our words to calm an irate person, just as we can use our words to anger someone who was previously calm and serene. There is only one reason for that – our words have power and energy and should be used with care.
